ACTS Quiet Day for Scotland
Posted Saturday 29 November 2008
St Anne’s Church and hall in Coupar Angus were open on Saturday 29 November as part of the Quiet Day for Scotland initiated by ACTS. The aim was to provide quiet spaces around the time of St Andrew’s Day where people could come in and spend a short time in prayer and meditation before the busy run up to Christmas. The Scottish Tourist Board were also promoting the weekend as a Scotland Awareness Weekend.
St Anne’s hall held a display of Celtic history and art and three prayer stations and refreshments were available all day. A leaflet was given to each person with suggestions of ways to be still and included Bible texts and different ways to approach meditation. Taize music was played quietly in the church and the day ended with a Eucharist presided over by the Rector the Very Rev Kenny Rathband.
