Casting the Net at Forfar

A Casting the Net (CTN) Mission Action Planning workshop was held with the congregation at St John’s, Forfar. Some admitted reservations about CTN being another box-ticking Diocesan exercise and feared what the day might involve. Reassurance was provided that CTN is all about growth: of the individual, of congregations in the way they work together and out into the community. And work had been done locally to identify community needs and opportunities.

The most important part of the event was small group work to mark life at St John’s against the Nine Marks of Mission. This led to the ‘Holy Conversations’ that CTN seeks to support. This exercise showed where St John’s is excelling and opportunities for growth. So the next step is for the CTN team and local Planning Group to develop a Mission Action Plan. This will use Diocesan resources and seek to build on local talents and opportunities. So the emphasis is on Action, with no boxes to tick here!
