Casting the Net Training Day

Posted Saturday 31 October 2009

Nominees from churches across the Diocese came together for the first CTN induction workshop led by James Petticrew, the Casting the Net development officer, and members of the Casting the Net action group.  Karen Gaskell outlined the background and the role of the liaison officers in relation to the Casting the Net project. James Petticrew inspired the group with new ways of thinking about mission. Like lizards who go out and seek for food, churches can go out to ‘be a blessing’. Susannah Harley outlined practical ways of communicating in church and to the wider world using websites and magazines. Together the liaison officers explored the Casting the Net story (John C.21 v1 - 11) in relation to their church life. Judging by animated conversations over a fine bring-and-share lunch, everyone who attended has begun to cast the net and create their own communication network across the diocese.
If your church has not yet nominated a Casting the Net liaison officer or would like to find out more about exploring the programme, there will be another induction day in January 2010.
