Clergy take part in Diocesan Clergy Conference
Posted Monday 12 January 2009
The clergy of the Diocese will be taking part in the annual Clergy Conference in Kinross this week. The subject of the Conference is ‘Practical Liturgy for Growth’. Clergy will be encouraged to look at the development of the patterns of worship which we use Sunday by Sunday as a means of ‘Casting the Net’ and encouraging growth in our congregations.
There are three guest speakers: Stuart Muir is City Organist and Pastoral Musician at St Paul’s Cathedral, Dundee. Fr Ian Paton is Rector of Old St Paul’s in Edinburgh. He lectures in liturgy at New College, Edinburgh and is module co-ordinator for TISEC on liturgy. Ven Trevor Lloyd is a leading liturgist of the Church of England and has written many of the Grove Worship Booklets.
Bishop David said, ‘The Clergy Conference is a real ‘meeting point’ for our clergy. We are delighted to have three eminent speakers to help us think about how our worship can be one of the ways in which we encourage people into faith. As we begin to think about our Casting the Net programme, we can see that our worship is one of the most important elements of that net.’
