Rev Denise Herbert of St Mary’s Newport emailed on 13th March with this news,
“I decided that the situation in Japan is so AWFUL and wondering how to react - felt that prayer vigils were the only answer so today I put posters around the local churches and up in Newport. My plan is to put up an icon of the Pantocrator with candles and our peace candle - and to say a prayer every quarter of an hour and leave prayer sheets around for people to use. Otherwise it will be a silent vigil. I think it is important to show solidarity and be open to God in God’s mystery about the whole thing.”
The second of two prayer vigils is to be held at St Mary’s Newport on March 17th at 12.00pm.
