Congratulations are due to Gordon Carss, who has chalked up fifty years service as a Lay Reader. Licensed on 12 September 1959 in Durham Cathedral, he spent many years serving in Sussex. Eight years ago Gordon and his wife, Doreen, came to the Dioceses of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane along with their daughter and her husband and their grandchildren.
A special celebration service was held on Sunday 13 September 2009 in St Columba’s, Crieff. The Rector, the Revd Paddy Allen, reports that Gordon preached an excellent sermon on the theme of taking up one’s cross. Photographs of Gordon were taken to mark both occasions, his licensing and its fiftieth anniversary thanksgiving service.
