Nerys Brown has been licensed as a Lay Reader after a two-year training programme at TISEC, on Saturday 27 September 2008.

Present at the service were many of the people in the wider community - particularly in local schools and youth groups - who have come into contact with Nerys through her ministry. Taking part in the service was the music group from St Mary’s and the preacher was Bishop David. The service was followed by supper and a ceilidh

The congregation at St Mary’s is involved in a wide range of ministries in the community. These are just some of them:

  • Organising Young Church at St Mary’s (children ranging from 2 to 17).
  • Joint Summer Sunday Club with St Blane’s Church (Church of Scotland).
  • Scripture Union Group and Assemblies at Dunblane Primary School (with Duncan Strathdee of Dunblane Christian Fellowship).
  • Radio Rainbow, the Dunblane Churches Holiday Club for Primary School Children.
  • Frequency, a monthly Saturday evening event for teenagers from all the Dunblane churches.
  • Monthly prayer breakfast for teenagers from all the churches.
  • Collect children’s clothes and toys and baby equipment for refugee families in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow.
  • Support the work of Home-start Stirling which provides friendship and support for local families with young children in need.
  • Support for Stirling Start Up which provides starter packs for homeless people when they enter their first tenancy.
