New Chaplain for Mission to Seafarers in Scotland

Posted Monday 7 January 2008

Mission to Seafarers in Scotland will take a major step forward in 2008 with the appointment of the Revd Tom Allen as Chaplain to the Scottish Ports. This is a new post which combines a ship-visiting ministry in Grangemouth with the task of developing a network of ministry to seafarers in ports across Scotland.

Tom is at present Vicar of Oakworth in the Diocese of Bradford. He is well known to many as Big Bulky Anglican through his blog and he has a deep interest in the use of new technology as a tool of mission.

Tom succeeds the Revd Robin Underhill who has had a most active ministry which has strengthened awareness of and support for the work of MTS throughout the Scottish Episcopal Church and the wider community.
