Phase One was something of a 'learning curve' for members of the Stewardship Committee - learning how to run presentation/training evenings for clergy and Vestry members and how to support congregations through a programme.

Some of the results are incomplete - but some have been very encouraging.  For example, these congregations have recorded significant increases in their pledged giving:

• Aberfoyle    72%
• Burntisland   74%
• Forfar  115%
• Strathtay   60%

As we have said throughout the programme, it's not just about money.  Financial commitment is an sign of spiritual commitment.  It helps to 'balance the books'.  But, more important, it gives the whole church community new confidence in the future and new energy for mission.

As one of our clergy said,  'It has certainly resulted in a perceptible increase in confidence – in ourselves, and in the future of our congregation'
