At the heart of the Stewardship Movement is the recognition that everything we have comes from God.  The idea that we 'own' things is replaced by an acceptance that we do not have anything which we have not been given.  We offer back to God in thanksgiving.

Stewardship is also rooted in the idea that faith commitment takes many forms - one of those forms is its expression in giving.

This Year of Stewardship is really about developing a new understanding of how faith and giving are inextricably linked.  The church is called to be the body of Christ in the world - to be committed to mission and outreach.  It cannot do that if our attitude to the sustaining of the church is rooted in the idea that it is a 'cause for which we fund-raise'.
